ORTOVOX Unveils Climate-Neutral Freeride Collection for Fall 2021
German mountain brand takes step toward 100-percent carbon neutrality in 2024 with expanded apparel collection headlined by 3L Deep Shell Series, Swisswool Zinal Jacket and Free Rider Backpacks
LONGMONT, Colo. (Feb. 9, 2021) – ORTOVOX, the global expert in avalanche rescue equipment and technical wool for mountain sports, doubles down on its commitment to fighting climate change with its new Freeride Collection, a 100-percent climate-neutral assortment, for Fall 2021. Available in September, the collection is highlighted by the 3L Deep Shell Jacket and Bib Pants, the Swisswool Zinal Jacket and redesigned Free Rider Backpack models.
“Human-caused climate change is our generation’s greatest threat, our greatest challenge, and our greatest opportunity for innovation. Protection of both people and the environment forms the core of the ORTOVOX mission and today marks an important step forward with our first climate-neutral apparel collection. ORTOVOX is committed to becoming fully climate neutral by 2024. Our latest collection of mountainwear and backpacks is a reflection of these efforts, but is one step among many as we reinvent our business,” says Tom Mason, U.S. brand manager at ORTOVOX.
The 3L Deep Shell series is designed with freeriding in mind, offering full protection and high comfort in a lightweight package for exploring the sidecountry close to the resort or discovering new backcountry zones. The 3L Deep Shell Jacket ($680) was designed with a loose cut, adjustable hems, a removable snow guard, a high collar and an adjustable storm hood, preparing you for all off-piste situations. The wind- and waterproof outer membrane has extra merino wool lining in areas that are sensitive to the cold, including the chin and chest area, to keep you warm in any conditions, while the long, two-way zippers on the 3L Deep Shell Bib Pants ($600) provide optimal ventilation and easy on-and-off for both men and women. On top of it all, the 3L Deep Shell line is completely PFC-free and climate neutral, reflecting ORTOVOX’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and the environment.
The Swisswool Zinal Jacket ($370) is perfectly designed for freeriding on colder days. With ORTOVOX’s unique Swisswool sourced from the Swiss Alps, the Zinal jacket offers a natural insulation from rare black sheep that embodies the ideal insulation (150 g/m2) to weight (660g) ratio. The jacket’s robust wind- and water-resistant outer material and Swisswool insulation will turn sub-zero temperatures into comfortable warmth. The adjustable cuffs with elasticated inner seams will fit comfortably over gloves and keep the wind out as will the high collar with fine merino mesh. The Zinal jacket is roomy enough for athletic turns, making it perfect for freeriders who want to choose their own line. Like the 3L Deep Shell Series, the Swisswool Zinal is completely PFC-free and climate neutral.
ORTOVOX has completely overhauled the Free Rider Backpack Collection for Fall 2021. The newly redesigned Free Rider 28L and Free Rider 26S ($190) fits snugly to the back when freeriding in any terrain. It provides reliable support with a flat, elastic-clasp flex belt, soft back pads and an internal spine protector. The Free Rider has all the necessary attachment options for skis, snowboards, ice axes and ropes as well as a helmet net, hydration system and enough space for climbing skins. Avalanche rescue equipment can be stowed in a separate safety compartment. Last but not least, the Free Rider Collection is made from recycled polyamide and is completely PFC-free and climate neutral.
The ORTOVOX Freeride Collection will be available in September 2021 at www.ortovox.com and select retail partners. For more information, please contact Account Manager Maria Brickman at maria.brickman@rygr.us.
