Outside Magazine and Backcountry Magazine award the lyngen Gore-Tex Active Jacket and lyngen Gore-Tex Jacket with coveted Editor’s Choice Awards

OSLO, Norway (Nov. 1, 2022) — Norrøna, the four season, family-owned Norwegian manufacturer of premium apparel and gear, is proud to receive Editor’s Choice Awards from two of the outdoor industry’s most esteemed gear guides. The lyngen Gore-Tex Active Jacket earned an Editor’s Choice Award in Outside Magazine’s Winter Gear Guide and the lyngen Gore-Tex Jacket earned an Editor’s Choice Award in Backcountry Magazine’s Winter Gear Guide.

“Norrøna prides itself on designing and delivering the highest quality ski touring products on the market. All of our products undergo extensive testing in some of the toughest mountain conditions around the world, allowing us to deliver quality, trusted products,” says Norrøna CEO, Jørgen Jørgensen. “We’re grateful the Outside Magazine and Backcountry Magazine teams had positive experiences skiing and riding with our lyngen jackets. These awards speak to the hard work our team has put into bringing designs to market that truly represent Norrøna’s commitment to breaking boundaries around design, innovation, durability and forward-thinking sustainability initiatives.

In Outside Magazine’s review, the lyngen Gore-Tex Active Jacket was named the most breathable, waterproof ski mountaineering shell on the market. The tester says, “it’s the most breathable hardshell I’ve worn.”

The all-new lyngen Gore-Tex Active Jacket ($649) for men is Norrøna’s most breathable, lightweight weatherproof jacket developed for ski touring. The front and underarm area are made with Gore-Tex Active Shakedry, a technology that eliminates the face fabric, preventing the absorption of water to maintain comfort during high-intensity activities. The hood, shoulders, upper arms, and bottom hems are built with 30D Gore-Tex Active recycled nylon fabric for ultimate breathability. Together, they offer the ideal balance of water protection and breathability.

In addition to the Editor’s Choice Award, Outside Magazine featured five other Norrøna products in this year’s Winter Gear Guide, including:

·      The Best Touring Pant of 2023 – lyngen Gore-Tex Pro Pants ($599)

·      The Best Cross-Country Ski Gear of 2023 – pureUll Zip Neck ($149)

·      The Best Men’s Winter Running Gear of 2023 – falketind Alpha120 Zip Hood ($209)

·      The Best Women’s Winter Running Gear of 2023 – falketind Octa Jacket ($219)

·      The Best Men’s Baselayers of 2023 – pureull Longsleeve ($139)

In Backcountry Magazine’s review, the publication states, “the remarkably lightweight lyngen Gore-Tex shell is well-suited to the stick-and-move touring its namesake region demands, making it a solid option for vert-crushing backcountry travelers the world over.”

The lyngen Gore-Tex Jacket ($589) for men and women is a versatile shell made for ski touring but works seamlessly for trekking and lightweight mountaineering. Blending recycled 30D Gore-Tex Active nylon fabric with a recycled 3-layer 30D rip-stop Gore-Tex C-Knit nylon, the jacket provides maximum protection against the elements while maintaining breathability during high-intensity movements.

In addition to the Editor’s Choice Award, Backcountry Magazine featured three additional products in the apparel and accessories category for this year’s Winter Gear Guide, including the lyngen Down850 HoodJacket ($469), pureull Zip Neck ($149) and pureull Tights ($119).
